CIFNET - Training Programmes (Regular Courses)

The Institute conducts three Regular courses namely Bachelor of Fishery Science (Nautical Science), Vessel Navigator Course (VNC) and Marine Fitter Course (MFC).

REGULAR COURSES

1. Degree course
The 4-years Bachelor Degree programme namely Bachelor of fishery Science (Nautical Science) affiliated to CUSAT, Kochi is in progress. Selection of the candidates for the degree course will be carried out through all India Entrance examination conducted by CIFNET.

2. Trade courses
Two trade courses namely Vessel Navigator and Marine Fitter formulated under Craftsman Training Scheme of NCVT, New Delhi were started at the three centres of CIFNET from 1st August 2006. Selection of the candidates for the trade courses will also be carried out through All India Common Entrance Test. Both the courses are stipendiary.

The candidate after passing the above Regular courses have to obtain the required sea service for appearing the respective competency examination.

Sea service can be obtained from either Govt. fishing vessels or private owned fishing vessels. The posting on board Govt. fishing vessels for obtaining the sea service for successful candidates are arranged by CIFNET on the merit list of passing the examination. These trainees thus may have to wait to get their posting in the Govt. fishing vessels for acquiring sea service. However, the trainees can get the sea service by working on any fishing vessels themselves.
